As a multiple dog owner, it is heart-breaking to again read these sad statistics. Unfortunately, there are many dog/cat owners who still do not spay/neuter their animals as they should be doing. This is a vital step in taking control of a bad situation. Nonetheless, the fact that there are so many good folks who promote humane organizations and ways to adopt otherwise unwanted animals, is a step in the right direction. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Jeff. You are so right, it is hard to wrap your mind around the millions of animals that are needlessly killed, not to mention the millions that are pure bred (the main argument I hear from people that go to breeders or pet stores). The numbers are staggering but supporting the shelters along with spaying and neutering is the way to go.

I am so happy that Care2 has put together this contest!

Tracy,

This is a perfect example of statistics that most people would not believe if you told them.

Kudos for getting the word out.
